OU Win Sloppier Than A Thanksgiving Dinner Plate

Editor Note: My apologies to the Bloggin’ and Ballin’ faithful for the hiatus over the past month. I missed a couple games, and no one else on OU can read or write (we just ball baby), so that’s why you haven’t seen any posts.

Reading, MA – If this game were a plate of food, it would be my Dad's Thanksgiving Dinner plate, complete with cranberry sauce, turkey, potatoes, stuffing, and green beens - all mixed together in a sloppy mess ("Hey, it all goes to the same place!"). Back in action after a 2 week layoff, Origins Unknown won a messy contest last night against the Warriors, 68-49, at the Reading Coliseum. The win runs OU’s record to 7-1, and keeps them securely planted in 2nd place in the league standings.

After a bye week and Thanksgiving break, the OU bunch knew that there would be some cobwebs to shake off, and true to form, showed up rustier than the exhaust on my Toyota Tacoma. OU did manage to take an early lead on the Warriors, but there were more turnovers than points for most of the first half. The Warriors, while not a very good team, do have some decent players – and given the opportunity – made some shots, and kept the lead to under ten. OU relied on some long range conversions, as well as a few transition baskets to keep ahead. While no one was above the messiness, Dr. Greg Robinson did provide a spark off the bench, both defensively and on the defensive glass.

The second half was a little less sloppy, but the Warriors did play well, cutting the lead to 4 with 12 minutes left in the game. Danger Dan Fisher then punched in for work and reeled off several baskets in his typically hard-charging fashion. With Shu-ter Patel and James “Stretch” Hogan IV pounding the interior, and Dr. Greg and Cap’n Mike patrolling the perimeter, OU pushed the lead up to 15 and eventually 19.

The highlight of the game may have been a baseline reverse lay up, thrown up by a caught-in-the-air-with-no-where-to-go Cap’n Mike. Like THIS: Cap'n Mike's Reverse lay-up

OU squares off against 6th Man next week, whom they beat by almost 50 in their first meeting.
