OU Beats the Heat... and Evans

Without their top guns in attendance, Evans was dismantled by an unselfish Origins Unknown team on Thursday night, 89-60. OU used a balanced-attack to stake a small lead in the first half, which eventually ballooned to the 29 point rout.

Leading the way for OU was the 3-headed monster of Danger Dan Fisher, James “Stretch” Hogan IV, and Dr. Greg Robinson. Fisher dropped a game-high 32 points on the porous Evans defense, by running and gunning like a man possessed by the spirit of his childhood hero – Vinnie “The Microwave” Johnson. Hogan added his blue-collar 21 points, while Dr. Robinson contributed a silky smooth 19 as well.

With the gym temperature at a balmy 89 degrees, the teams started out by trading baskets. OU was able to fast-break at will on the less athletic Evans team, but to their credit, Evans hung in the game by making a several three pointers. At the half, OU was only up by 6 points. There was little worry that the game was in hand, but the veteran OU bunch did make a promise to open up the lead as soon as the second half started.

OU did just that as the lead doubled almost immediately. Evans was simply unable to maintain their hot shooting, while OU continued to run through the heat. Fisher kept up his consistent offensive pressure, and wore out a late-arriving, hard charging, Evans substitute player. Dr. Robinson also kept the heat on by making almost all of his mid-range jumpers, while Hogan continued to run the court like a young Scottie Pippen.

The win pushes the OU record to 4-1, with an upcoming game against the Road Runners on Thursday.
